Yeah. Id say a SNES. I'm trying a PSOne as a first project and Iv'e run into a bunch of problems so far(plus I'm sure there are more to come). I wouldn't recomend it as a first project.

I'm working on a portable PSOne. I desoldered the lid sensor switch and wan't to solder the connection points.(so the system will always recognize the disk lid as shut.)
