No the same standard applies to Canada as it does for the US and Mexico. As for if they are shoddy or not it depends on thee company. ATI seems to be doing alright and they're Canadian. I too have a Hip Gear and I just worked around the 12V

Alright here's another update, *sigh* okay I could not figure out what was wrong with it so I just powered it with some batteries and it worked fine. For whatever reason it absolutely HAS to run off batteries. I was originally using the wall outlet in an attempt to save battery power while working ...

Alright here's the latest developments:

- Screen works, only as an input device (tested it on DV cam)
- Screen only works when there is a headphone plugged into it, but there is still an obnoxious hum
- Turning on game system scrambles video
- Still no audio from speakers

Does anyone have an idea ...

I got them at Future Shop, I'm not sure if that's in the states or not, but I'm sure there's an equivelant company. I have the feeling that they just wanted to get rid of the Hip Gears. After all just under the price was a sticker that said "Gone When Gone." Oh well their loss, my gain.

I just picked up 2 Hip Gear controllers for $40 Canadian! That's like $32 US. I just tested the screens on a PS2 and considering they're $20 brand new that's pretty good. Don't know why I nabbed 2 of them, but I guess if I fry one I can always use the other.
