It was a bad solder joint apparently. I unsoldered everything, then resoldered it taking extra care and time to make sure there was good connections and it's working now.

I proposed this idea to myself in an attempt to output my Gamecube audio to a simple set of powered computer speakers. There are cables and converters out there, but the problem with this is that one of my co-workers decided to tell me that I wouldn't be able to do it. Wrong thing to tell me.
