Yeah, if you want perfect accuracy, I think FCEUX is considered to be one of the most accurate. But really, NES emulation is so mature that almost all of the major emulators can be pretty much 100% accurate.

I don't know for sure if they work with hard drives, but I've personally used MPlayer with a 16GB USB flash drive, and it worked. So the hard drive should work if it's normal USB ...
