thank you kind sir! that is precisely what I quested for. and yes it is a chore to wire up. I've been doing just a little at a time, and I have to keep taking days off. If I had seen that page about using floppy connectors instead of 72 pins I totally would have done that instead and saved $8, but ...

the thumb smashiness is caused by the rubber under the buttons being worn
if you unscrew the controller, you can replace the rubber pieces with ones from other controllers like playstation controllers... I used the rubber pieces from a Super Joy III i took apart to fix up one of my NES controllers

where is pin 1 on the nes 72 pin connector???

So I'm making a NOAC in a nes controller deal like G force made, but in order to wire up my cartridge slot to my super joy III, I need to figure out where pin 1 is on the damn fangled 72 pin connector. I've scoured the forums and the NOAC sticky to no avail. Am I just an idiot?
