Will I need to power the snes controller portion for it to send the signals to the blue tooth keyboard?

I am curious if I can just wire directly to the pads on the snes controller. I will be using a bluetooth keyboard that will be going inside the controller. I know I can wire to the traces but, I am not sure how much I should remove to expose the traces. Also would I be able to just wire straight to ...
