Thanks that is good information. I also found that the anolog PS1 controller is 1/4" narrower then the newer one.

I had a thought... what are the chances that both of the PS1 controllers I bought were the same? Not very good! Number two has pcb switches!

You see, that's the problem. It isn't a "pcb", it's a "pcm" (printed ciruit mylar) yes I made that up. I took it out and removed the internals. I don't see anything I can solder to without melting mylar.

I pulled the rubber cover off one of the double switches and there isn"t much to solder to. It's more mylar with a thin layer of conductor printed on it. I'm guessing tactile switches were used but don't know what size or type to use. I'm better at body work then electronics. My friend is doing the ...
