Hmm interesting question. WIth the right bracing you might be able to use it. You may need to have a sheet of aluminum to brace the motherboard and the LCD.

It might just be easier to use the material that Ben has shown works.

I too would agree with RDC and Xero_D about the laser.

As far as the HDD you should just go OEM IMO, but a used one. You can get used 120's for about $60-70 and BEVS are about $45. The key like Zero_D said is something MS could look for and ban.

The project can be completed as quickly as you want it to be done. The BIBLE for this are Ben's Engaget tutorials. Everything you need to know can be derived from these articles. Read them over and be prepared to use it as a knowledgebase as you may have to sway from it on your own project.

The inverter in the pic is the power inverter for the monitor, but you can connect the leads off of that to the 360's power brick. Ben's tut can show you how.
