You could always try blowing on the cartridge slot.

When you turn it on, does the normal onscreen static change at all?
try GENTLY pushing the top of the cart towards your self, then switch it on (while holding the cart), ive had a few of em that this fixed.

There's too little data to help here.
- When did it work last? Is this recent?
- What happened to it in the meantime? Is it able to be undone?
- What kind of static? Like, the same static you see when you have a TV that's not connected (white noise)? A mainly black screen with some crap on it?
- Did you check the switch on the back? Like, did it change to channel 4 and you didn't notice?
- Have you tried using a Genesis composite video/audio cable? (The yellow/white(/red) RCA cables)

Sounds like the problem is your RF box. Try either changing the TV channel or using a composite cable. Maybe try iot on another TV or plug it into the VCR...

Does it make any sound when you plug in headphones and adjust the volume slider? If so then the RF box is faulty. If it doesn't make any sound then adjust the volume and use a game you know makes sound from the beginning, such as Sonic 2 ("SEGA!" followed by "ting" noises followed by the menu music). If it still doesn't make sound your Genesis has worn out.

1:It has never worked since i had it,but thats only been a few weeks, and it supposidly worked before i got it.
2:I have no idea.Thats why i made this thread.
3:It's just normal tv static.
4:Yup.I did that second(after blowing on the cart slot and cart)
5:Thats what i thought was wrong, but it still didn't work when i got one of those.
6:I've tried it on 3 different tvs,all of which work.
Hope this info helps. :(

Just tried your idea,Kidw/32+systems.The static changed a little and i thought i saw the word Sega through the static, but then it went back to the old static and wouldn't change again.
