Ok everybody knows our good old text to speech friend Microsoft sam right?

How come he cant say soy on the first try but if you type soysoysoy he says it on the last on (On my verion anyways)

Or if you type crotch he says Crows nest? Any one else find words he cant say. I think its hilarious.

I think you can download microsoft reader, then theres an additional voice pack you can get to goes for the microsuck text to voice thing. Hak5 did a thing about it in one of their episodes.

AT&T Natural Voices is the best text to speach out there. The demo on the website is insane, it sounds so freaking awsome. Try it out.

lmao, some kids at school would go to that site on the media center computers, turn the volume on the computer as loud as it gets (the computers are little emacs, so the speakers aren't super powerful) and go to that site. What they do is have a few .'s, to delay the actual speech, then type a bunch of numbers (like, a lot) Start the speech, walk away, and then a computer randomly starts saying "five oh three four eight seven..." you get the idea. Good times

I almost got in so much crap for doing something similar. Me and a few classmates got the idea to trick the teacher. We were sitting under the classroom intercom and had the computer page the teacher and then another computer call the teacher down to the office. And to our surprize he actualy bought it. Lets just say he wasn't verry happy when he came back. Tho me and my friends kept quiet. Always fun to mess with teachers

Apple's Speech Synthesis and Recognition software (from System 7.5.5 no less

) can OWN MS Sam any day of the week!

-Many, Many voices if you have a Quadra or Power Mac (something like 35)
-recognition system can be used to run AppleScript programs* and aliases in the Speakable Items folder
-It sounds better and came out in 1995

And I think you can still get it all (system software and everything) from Apple's FTP servers. But you have to have either a real mac or a program like Basilisk II running for it to work.
