If you do, do it now. The next generation (officially, x360 is too early to count) is rapidly approaching, and your PS2 will drop in price dramatically

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

EB games pays $50 USD for PS2s, might pay $20 more for a slimline and it can only go lower. So I would sell it right away if you want to get any money at all, still not the $250 you need for a PSP but it's close.

you're an ideal candidate for the 'sell and buyback' plan.
you don't use it anymore, so sell it. In a couple years it'll drop to $15-30, and maybe even eventually $5-15 (like dreamcast). you won't make much money, but betting that PS2 prices will drop below $50 is almost a sure thing.

However be warned that unlike other systems, PS2s are unreliable if not taken care of. Any any system with a couple owners is not going to have a complete service history. Give it the once over.

of course you'd save more money waiting for the PSP's initial price drop. Probably well after xmas, maybe in the march/april timeframe.

I don't think you should sell it. The PS3 isn't coming for a little while longer. Unless you have another system(s), don't sell it.

I think Sony is useing the PSP Giga pack as a semi-price drop. It is technicly $100 less if you add the retail price of a 1G memory stick to a normal Value Pack. Something tells me that when people say "wheres the price drop?" they will say "we gave you the giga pack, what more do you want?". But you never know.
