My SNESp progress

Post by Cyberblade »

Well, I have a screen, and have my SNES running off batteries. I need to begin work wiring everything together, and build the case. I plan on leaving the PSOne screen intact, due to my reluctance to modify it. Can I use the ac plug that was made to go into the PSOne to supply power to it? I plan on a design similair to Bens homade SNES portable, only with the screen external. I'll be posting more news on it over the week.

Kinda re-phrasing the question about the AC jack, but I mean the AC jack thats built into the screen to run power through to the PSOne, can I use that to power the screen? Or will I have to run a wire through to the other side to power it the normal way?

I see the 7805 (low dropout chip, whatever) soldered flat against the sytem, but where did all the other stuff (yeah, I'm technical) that was in that general vicinity go? I want to try making more SNESp even smaller but thats kinda a problem for me, considering my terrible soldering/de-soldering skills.

The only other things it looks like he removed are the rf box, the exp. port, the dc jack, and the rf shield.

A: On the 2nd revision SNES there is no RF box, at least not on mine. B: I know he wired the video and all that directly. Where are those little blue things though? Pardon my small knowledge on electrical parts, but I'm pretty sure those things are necassary.

Everything else that is missing are the capacitors the blue and black round things he attached those using wire that way they can be placed out of the way instead of when they are soldered directly to the board and add an inch or so of width to the boads

UPDATE

I replaced the DC jack today, with one I swiped off my old Gamegear. It's the exact same size as the PSOne DC plug so I can just plug the screen right in when this is all done. I need to get a new controller to modify, split it, then directly wire it to the system. Once that's all said and done, I'll get to work on my case.

Controllers hate me. In my process of trying to split controllers I've gone through 4 or 5 NES controllers, and 3 or 4 SNES controllers. Burning off the connections, or getting no connection at all. I'd love to have a 1991 controller board, as I have had one in the past, but it worked terrible due to it's age, and whom used it. Does anybody know the controller #'s that contain a 1991 controller? A controller with 1991 on it contained a 1992 board, prolly because it was cheaper. It was an SNS 005 controller.
