Problems with the snesp power up

Post by Metroid fan »

Ok on my snesp I'm trying to get +5v without opening the screen up I tried using the back connector that should put out +5v but when I hook it up the screen turns off! so I tried grounding it but it didn't work... Please help! Ok this is weird when I hook it up now the screen doesn't get any signal but turns on without a backlight... and I have both the signals and the screen hooked up...

OK I'm a little confused...but it sounds like your trying to run the SNES board off of one the screen's power regulators. If that is the case, then you overloaded the reg.

Please rephrase your question so I can answer it better....

sounds like your running the screen off of the sness AV pinout (works for a lot of screens, but not a PSone screen) so it sounds like the screen just plane dont want to do it, and you maby hooking it up wrong....

Snesp to hipgear... the snes has 5+ on its tenth pin pin five and six are sutable grounds, it you are not getting enough power (witch is strange because i can get mine to run on 4 AAs with the same method) you can hook them bouth up to the same battry, or even a second set of battrys. a psone screen needs 7.2 volts you wont get that out of the SNES AV pins, you are going to need to get a 7.2v rc car adapter. and try to run it through a power regulator...

Could be that you screwed up the regulator, but that's unlikely... very unlikely since most, if not all, shut down internally before you're able to blow it up.

To get power to the SNES, you go through the screen's regulator, however, the ground comes from the controller. Make sure you don't have any shorts, of any kind, on the controller.

Ok I'm trying to not open the screen up like not even the case period. So on the back of the psone screen that says av out not the headphone like jack the one that looks like it could be on the back of the psone... but when I hook up the snes to the pin that should be the the +5v out on the back of the psone screen it acts like its shorting out.

Ok I gave up and opened it but the snes still won't turn on! :( did I fry it?
I got the +5v from the same spot as ben tells you to. So now iv'e got that hooked up but does the screen need anything other than composite in to tell it what to do because its not showing any color...

That didn't answer my question, what is your power source? Are you using batteries, or are you using an adaptor.

Oh an adaptor and I tried connecting the ground but it still isn't working. By the way I don't exacly know if it is or is not turning on it doesn't show anything on the screen but I might be connecting it wrong...

Do batteries have to be the same voltage to run in parallel? And if not will it lower the voltage to have another battery with a lower voltage connected to the battery with the higher voltage?
