Fried gamecube motherboard

I was just starting my gcp, and I took it apart. I removed all the case, and the metal frame, before plugging the disk drive into the motherboard and powering up the system. It was working fine, but I tried to turn it on again, and the fan went on, but the system didn't. Did I fry the rev c mobo becuase it was touching the dd circuitboard? When I get another do I just put a plastic sheet insulator in between the two circuit boards to prevent it from happening again? any help would be great. Thanks!

Yes you will need an insulator between ANY circuit boards.

Thin piece of plastic, electrical tape , etc. Any thing thin and non-conductive.

If I use tape can I just put it directly on the circuit boards so that they aren't touching? Thanks a lot.

yes, I just use a sheet of paper when I am testing to keep them seperated
