ps1 battery question

hi i am planning on starting a ps1 portable but i am cant decide which batteries i should use. Would any of these work?

this one above, and smilar ones like it are very simple to use.e.
i havent used that one before, i used a 3500mah model that i got three months ago.
those packs are great as they include the cells, protection circuit, ports/switch and charger.
all ready to go.

Yes it is.

You need to Voltage Regulate it down which will produce a lot of heat (as I have learnt).

Go to Jaycar (Radioshack) and ask for a Step down converter or a Voltage Reguator from 12V (maybe 13.3 volts or so, as the protection circuit may be cheaply designed. So do a multimeter test!) to 7.5 Volts (PSone Power Rating)

it does get rather warm, but i finished spyro one on it without any dramas, a smart man would heatsink it or add the regulator.

What do you think that metal shielding is over the IC's?
