Biased's Worklog - Help needed and appreciated!

Post by Biased »

Okay, I've gotta get some serious help with the cart slot relocation, I'm about to go through my third SNES! I'm going to put all other parts of the portable on hold until I figure this crap out.

Should I get a cart slot from a SNOAC maybe? What kind of ribbon cable could I use for it? Once I've got it re-wired, how do I secure it in the case?

I lol'd at the paint story.

Looks good, but isn't an xbox case a little big? I can't imagine it being that comfy

It actually feels alright to hold, if it doesn't I'll figure out a way to make the unit thinner in the spots where one would hold it. I'm also thinking about bondo-ing in the controller body so you just hold it by the top half of the shell and the bottom half of the controller.

I was going to use an Xbox360 HD-Dvd drive for a portable. It is the perfect size and you can get them for less than $25 if you can find them.

I think you may have to remove the dust covers if you want the memory slot to work as controller port

I may, perhaps google will provide some ingenuity for me.

That sounds like a good idea. If I hadn't sold my HD-DVD drive last year I would look at that as an option.

Also, this might take a few extra days to complete :( Other people in my house don't appreciate bondo and spraypaint fumes even though I only brought them inside to dry.

I don't see the point of such a large case with electronics inside that don't even fill up half of it, lol.

The point of such a large case is having a lot of extra room so I don't have to heavily modify anything to fit within space constraints.

You could probably enough batteries into it to last a couple days!

Actually I think you MAY be able to get away with leaving the covers intact if you trim the plastic of the controller ports to expose the leads more and have room for the "folding" mechanism

I went to my dad's today and used a RotoZip to cut the screen section out of the 360 shell and then I redid the whole thing by laying tape on the shell facing towards the inside and then placing the screen into the right place on the tape, then putting the bondo in from the inside. I let it dry and bondoed the outside, made sure everything was flush, then I sanded. I should be able to start with cutting into the case for the controls on Monday.

you're using bondo for structural integrity? I dunno if that's wrong, but I always thought it was too weak for that.
