psone screen 9 volt battery question
the psone screen takes 8.5V max, but my battery is 9V. I'm not sure where to get 7808 linear regulators (I don't want to make a digikey order for only one part), but is it alright if I just use a 1N4001 diode to drop the voltage, since I have some on hand? It won't be as consistent as an actual regulator of course, since it doesn't do any regulating, but it'll work, right?
Re: psone screen 9 volt battery question
I would recommend against it.

10x 7808 - 3.5 USD

Re: psone screen 9 volt battery question
i did anyway and it's fine.
maybe i'll swap for a 7808 in the future

Re: psone screen 9 volt battery question
Well, yeah. It works, but I just think it's not a good idea to misuse components like that. I guess it's irrational.
Re: psone screen 9 volt battery question
well, i'm going to have to change it. If i plug in my charger while my screen is plugged in, the colors of the screen go inverted. I checked the voltage of my battery, and it changes from 9V to 12V when plugged in, since the charger is 12V.
Re: psone screen 9 volt battery question
mhm, that's weird, inverted colors come when it's not getting enough voltage usually. At least that's what I've heard
Re: psone screen 9 volt battery question
well, at least the screen wasn't fried
