ok im new to this, but i have reasonable knowledge as to what im doing. i was wondering if anyone had made a portable that was capable of multiplayer on multiple portables because i noticed you can still play multiplayer but you have to share a 5 inch screen wich is not very... wellit doesnt saeem very comfortable or easy if you have bad eyesight like me. if theres not then i am considering making one.
i am still waiting on my psone screen, but i already have my system ripped apart, and i was wondering if anyone had any tips as to what i should do next.
also i am considering replacing the big wide heatsink with the heatsink from an old pentium processor is this a good idea.
Well then it kind of defeats the purpose of it being multiplayer with other consoles, if it's tweaked then it won't be compatible with other portable console. Hence the name lob64 standard.
hmmm ok like i sait im new at this and what i meant by tweak is that i want to change from an ethernet cord to somithing a little lesss stiff and more light, something that wont leave a gaping hole in my case
wow i didnt expect a reply this fast, and i saw some of your portables and they look great, you set the bar pretty high but i am looking to pass it
what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, but what does kill you, unfortunately, you only get to try once.
Actually it's compatible with any ethernet cord so there's a variety of cords to choose from, including ones that aren't so stiff, and there aren't that many ports that are smaller then an ethernet jack that have enough pins. Although a 15 pin vga jack is pretty small though. (the one on the starlight 64 and the retro 64)
i love the way the starlight looks but i want to make mine smaller, and i have another question.
is there any way to use a ps2 analog stick rather than the n64s, because after long use of the 64s the plastic wears down and ant stick becomes worthless, i have had it happen to all of my controllers atleast once

Well the way to go is to use a gamecube joystick, the official ones are confirmed to work, however I'm not sure about the ps2 joystick, it's a different value joystick, and third party ones are different. I think the ps2 one works, but I haven't tried it and someone else needs to confirm it.
hmmm ok i think i will go with the gamecube one then, thanks dude i will definitely be coming back to you when i need help or get stuck, this sounded like a fun project and then it got more interesting when i saw others had done the same thing with thiers, me and my gf are going to do one together and see how it turns out

PS2 stick absolutely does work, and the internal tact switch (L3/R3) is very cool. I have wired this joystick up with success (snowpenguin has done this as well). Gamecube joystick works just as well, but this is simply FYI.

hmmm what about the psp analog stick ive seen a ccouple of people's who have tried it and got too little resistance on the x axis and too much on the y axis

And all the PS2 sticks I've tried have never worked. It may just be luck finding one that works. You would be safer trying to find a Gamecube stick.
