Connecting a Charger to Ni-MH Packs in Series

Post by Metal Mario »

OK, so I'm working on a pretty basic PSonep, and I wanted to keep costs minimal. Instead of buying a battery pack from Battery Space, I opted to buy a set of 12 Ni-MH rechargable batteries to put into two 6-AA-Battery Holders, wired in a series to get 7.2v at around 4000 mAh.

The problem I've run into is, how would I wire the two batteries in parallel to the charging plug? How do I know which battery holder to solder to? :?

Apologies for the double post, I've resolved my original question. but this website claims batteries can be wired in both parallel AND series on page 3. Is this true?? If so, that's a lot of potential weight that could be taken off from my portable.

While I'm asking this, one more question I may as well as, what sort of on/off switch do most portablizers use? Can I just settle for a SPST, and cut off power running into the system?
