Pocket Fami :)!!!!!!!
well, I've finally taken the plunge and bought a Pocket Fami
(don't worry gannon, I'll still buy your NESp for, er, comparison
)....it arrived yesterday and while it didn't work at first, eventually I got Zelda to work on it
(using the converter, of course) I then proceded to try it with SMB/Duck Hunt and SMB3....they all worked
!!!! and to tell you the truth, this thing is pretty sweet. the screen's a bit small, but it's all right
...I'll post up some pics later today (right now I've got to write an essay to get into this electrical engineering course
) and perhaps I'll make a video, too
.....
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Well, it is an NOAC, and distributed by the same company as NeoFami. I'd not be surprised if it's basically the same board inside. That said, on a portable you'd probably not notice a lot of them (as the speakers on a portable are crappier than TV speakers, and timing is gonna be less critical on an LCD, etc.)
The NOAC is simply well-suited to portable making, and less so to console use. You're simply not gonna get an NES portable that's better, without designing your own perfectly cycle-accurate NOAC using some FPGA. That said, I hope someone does it
It's gotta be easier in a lot of respects than making an emulator, since mapper considerations go completely out the window.

ok, here's a quick review:
Picture: a little small, but it's good enough
. and the res is ok
Sound: of course, it's a bit off since this is a clone, but once again I can usually ignore the screwed up parts...
Functionality: Great
!!!!! with the converter, the game stays in place pretty well, and since I took the actual game boards out of their cases, it's even better
!!!! this thing also has composite output, which works fine, a headphone jack, which I still have yet to try, 2 external controller inputs
, and finally a DC input jack
..they sure did fit a lot of stuff in this small little NOACp!!!!!!
Problems: the D-pad buttons like to go Up/Down more than Left/right
.....also, the right side gets pretty damn hot after awhile (probably the regulator).....
I'll post up some pics ASAP

that happened to me at first, too....first of all, get a fresh set of batteries or an AC adapter for it....next, make sure that when using the converter, the words "famicom converter" (or whatever it says) are facing backward. finally, clean the game's pins and then insert it with the picture facing you. if it doesn't work, just keep taking it out and reinserting it....after awhile, it should work
...
