Hopefully you understood my question about the DVD drive
So is this idea worth a shot? Or is it a just a lead balloon?
(I got the idea from this website
EDIT:How come I can't use HTML on these boards?

No, you can't. You can't do that kind of reckless hack crap. It doesn't work that way.Shakespeare wrote:I dunno if a DVD player would be big enough for the PS2's guts, but I'm sure you could get the player to read PS2 discs if you were to do some chopping and re-soldering.
It'll work because I'll MAKE it work. :@XCVG wrote:No, you can't. You can't do that kind of reckless hack crap. What you could do is take the DVD drive from a Phat PS2 and use that.n1teblad3 wrote:So what do you suggest I do? Look for a DvD player that pops open like the ps2 drive? I think the 'chopping and re-soldering' is a great idea, but i don't have that kind of experience yet
That is exactly what I'd suggest. However, many DVD players still need the main circuit board for the screen to operate so you might have a hard time finding one with enough room in it to fit the PS2. Aside from that, I think it's a pretty clever idea.n1teblad3 wrote:So what do you suggest I do? Look for a DvD player that pops open like the ps2 drive?

The PS2 slim takes 8.5v, you'll have to check what your dvd player battery voltage is first.n1teblad3 wrote: How do I connect the ps2's power supply to sap power off the Port-DVD's Li battery? Is it as simply as following a few wires?
RGB is by far the best quality. Though whether your DVD screen can take it is another matter. What are some things to look out for when buying a DVD player for something like this?(It seems many people are having problems, because of RGB output etc.) Whats the better RGB,S-Video or Composite?
Composite, it's two wires: video and ground, compared to red, green, blue, sync and ground for RGB.EDIT: Also, whats easier to solder out of those 3?(If that makes any difference)
yup. it even puts out surround, methinks.n1teblad3 wrote:Oh and the ps2 slim has L Audio and R audio right?
