Smaller Psone Mobo
Was hacking up a few PSone's for a possible porta-palooza entry when I found out something interesting, the what I assume Rev 3 board is about 16x12 cm compared to the bigger 17.5x12 board. I know it's only 1.5 cm less, but I'm sure if someone was trying hard enough they could get a teeny portable

Re: Smaller Psone Mobo
what's the board's model? ive seen PM-41 and PM-41(2) also, what is the date of manufacture? iirc there were only 2 board revisions, the second revision changed a few things and tried to make it more difficult for modchip installersDK wrote:Was hacking up a few PSone's for a possible porta-palooza entry when I found out something interesting, the what I assume Rev 3 board is about 16x12 cm compared to the bigger 17.5x12 board. Kitty, can't find a date on the board and my console had no stickers on the back so i can't date it. There is an easy way to tell which is the newer version, look down the cooling holes on the far sides on the bottom and you shouldn't be able to see the circuit board, which is visible on the bigger, older models.

It is but it isn't. Look at the top right corner.... do you see a black SMT chip? no you say... oh I guess it is different.SnowKitty wrote:that's just a PM-41(2) its the 2nd and last PSone board version
Not to be like this, but I made this discovery back in like 06-07 when I was building mine.

Re: Smaller Psone Mobo
Update on how to identify which PsOne contains the small mobo.
Look at the cooling holes on the bottom, If you can see the mobo though them it's the bigger model.
