joystick mod
I was wondering if it's possible to use a ps2 or even an xbox pot to replace the joystick in a yobo controller? I have a bunch of ps2 and xbox pots, but not 1 gamecube pot. I'd rather not have to buy a new controller just for a joystick change. Is there a difference in the resistances between these pots? That might be the issue I am having so far. thanks for any help!

Pot is short for potentiometer. As for using one of them, nobody has really confirmed it officially that they will work. But you can just try it. Read the joystick replacement guide in the n64 reference board. I have some notes in there for replacing the joystick with other joysticks.

Re: joystick mod
the reason whyI ask is because I've tried the mod with two different ps2 pots (potentiometers if you must) and it hasn't worked yet. I guess I'll just have to get a gamecube pot and try that. The only thing that I can think of is that the resistance must be different.

Re: joystick mod
GC pot should work, infact a gc joystick would also work.

Thanks, well I didn't want to, but I finally broke down and bought a GC controller and hacked it up. Now all is well, I just wish I could have used some ps2 or xbox pots as I have bunch laying around. I've even got three psp numbs, but bacteria stated that they don't seem to work well, so that's a wash.

Yes, the PSP joysticks were bad, I have a couple of half-height joysticks from a rare joystick, MadCatz RetroCON, which also have two small rumble motors which will be very useful - bought one at a car boot sale for 70p - on ebay they go for £25.
The GameCube joysticks feel excellent, If size is no object then the joystick from a SuperPad from an N64 controller is probably the best one in my view.
