heya guys i just joined the forum. I've been searching it pretty much everyday for about 2 weeks when i went in my local cash converters and found a gamecube and logitech 5.6 screen with base. I plan on using the screen and base to hold a portable. Not power out the power yet still in need of a testing kit. But considering it ran off a 12v dc car batt i'm pretty certain i can get it down to around 9 volts to power both.
I just wanted to ask a few questions as my knowledge on electronics is a bit thin on the ground. I used to make combat robats but apart form that simple form i have not done anything as advanced.

1: with the gamecube screen it has a built in gc connector to the analog av out of the gc. is it possible to strip those wires and replace them with av to nes av out? like i said ive seen a few diagrams but understanding pins ect is not my specialty.

2: nes on a chip devices do they out put av?

3: is there a known UK supplier of noac devices?

4: what is usually the height and width of a original nes portal

just found out something interesting the connector for gamecube is the same as snes, are they compatible or is there voltage issues?

Haha, nice I've forgotten all about that screen. Do you have one just like that?
Sorry to say, but I won't be of any help as I don't remember anything about screens and whatnot.

lol, not to worry. i think i can do it with the screen i just need a way of converting the gamecube/snes connector to an nes av outputs. i swear ive seen connection boxes in the past but not sure.

Just took my nes apart and the board fits in the housing, apart from the big power metal thing on the board and about 2 mm of that silver stuff around the edge of the board but im sure i can take that off like on the atari 2600 ? the project it can definitely be done. my major problems are the big metal thing on the board and the av connections atm.

The screen is easy, the wires can be rewired easily. It's different for every screen so you'll have to figure it out yourself.

im not particularly electronically minded when it comes to circuit bored ect do you know of any wire layouts for this product i cant seem to unearth the one i was looking at earlier

Either one is okay, better than the one you posted earlier, but neither has built-in games. They are not PAL, so you better have an NTSC-capable screen.

Okay, but can it do NTSC 60Hz and PAL 50Hz, or just PAL 50Hz and PAL 60Hz?

As far as I know, no. The lockout chip is different but that doesn't matter with a NOAC or a modded NES. Make sure you get a NOAC with a "USA", "NES" or "72-pin" cart slot. You DO NOT want a "Japanese", "Famicom" or "60-pin" slot.
