First Portable
Cliche title, huh? Well, I'm new both here and to the idea of 'portabilizing' a game console, although, I am excited about the thought of it.
First off, I've got no experience in any of this, at all. But with that being said, that does not mean I'm am not ignorant, I will do my very best to comprehend the answers that are given to my future questions.
Anyway, here comes my first question and since in the N64 Section....how? I've been prowling around here for a slight bit of time and I really haven't found a definitive guide for newbie users. I did, however, see mention of a book? - I've been to Instructables.com and found the Process for the NES, but nothing on the N64.
Happy to be here / Thanks in Advance for all help.

There is no guide. You're going to have to hack the information together yourself.

Bacteria made one awhile ago and he is making a new one.XCVG wrote:There is no guide. You're going to have to hack the information together yourself.
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

Re: First Portable
does anybody try to figure stuff out for themselves anymore? Or at least ask a few questions, but not "can somebody send me a guide?"
Too many people want stuff handed to them on a silver platter.

It's a pity more people don't know about bacteria's guide. It is by far the best guide ever made for the n64.

When you go on a forum and don't plan to be on it for a while then you don't read any other thread. You just ask your question and leave. Even though this topic is something you can't just get an answer to, some people might think that you can just look up a guide and that's all you need.

It's amazing. Although I've just used it to refer to for my questions. It's great because it has pics. Could keep many people and me from frying their boardseurddrue wrote:__stuff__

I've been here for 7 months now. Using the guide is good but it doesn't answer all the questionsthewise1 wrote:When you go on a forum and don't plan to be on it for a while then you don't read any other thread. I'm sorry if I came off as lazy/greedy, but right now you are all coming off as rude, extremely. I asked a question, not specifically demanding an answer, it was either a yes or no. A guide was mentioned, so I asked. I'm sorry if I don't want to start something that I don't know anything about.

Re: First Portable
Here's my GUIDE
Thanks guys, pleased you like it.
DJ711 (or anyone else) - if there are aspects lacking in my guide, or areas it needs expansion on, please let me know; shoot me a PM; I can always update it you know if I need to, when I get a chance!
I don't need to cover it all in my new project of course, only how to mount it into my generic case. I will though make a new guide if I can get my 3rd, or 4th N64 board attempt at making the board smaller work!

I spent months looking at project logs, stickies, etc until I finally got around to building my N64p. Then I fried it.themadhacker wrote:does anybody try to figure stuff out for themselves anymore? Or at least ask a few questions, but not "can somebody send me a guide?"

Re: First Portable
Same thing happened with my Nintendo portable. Well, I didn't fry it, the board itself failed. The traces I was soldering to lifted off all the way to the glop top. Even when you have all the info you need, something can still go wrong. That's why this is really such an expensive hobby.XCVG wrote:I spent months looking at project logs, stickies, etc until I finally got around to building my N64p. Then I fried it.
This post brought to you by David Duchovny's glorious nipples.
