Changing NTSC to PAL

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Changing NTSC to PAL

Post by DrRobotnic »

Normally to do this you would buy a adaptor to change your screen to fix it. However if you want your screen to be portable this is a big no no.

I unfortunatly bought a psone screen from american ebay and it is NTSC. And it doesn't work with my PAL playstation.

DARN

But no fear, James thought all was lost when he happened to be reading the pheonix blog. And he learnt about NTSC and PAL crystals.

Looking drasticly on his psone screen for a crystal he found one. Labeled,
SC3.589545.

SO... where am i going with this??!!?? If i replace this crystal with a PAL 4.433619 crystal is should work with my playstation.

Can anyone confirm this.

If someone can then i will be able to finally start my PSp from ben's book. :D

*translation of Jack's post (which has very little techno "jibbo" in it)*
You could build a PAL -> NTSC scan converter using SMT parts (although you could probably get away with through hole parts, it'd just be bigger)
