Error 73 / Xbox not reading discs

Post by Ixosis »

I've been doin some minor xbox modification for a while and my friends came to me with problems on their xboxes.

One friend is getting Error 73 on screen whenever he loads up his xbox, and the other friend's xbox isn't even reading the discs.

I don't know how to fix the error 73 and don't really know where to start with the one not reading discs, and i need some help.

Any ideas?

Well I don't know about the error 73 but the disk error one is pretty simple, just open the xbox 360. Pull the dvd drive out and begin to open it up. you unscrew the crews on the bottom pull the bottom off then the top. Now there is a latch at the bottom that release the tray so you can pull it out (look it up on youtube). then take que tips and clean the sides of the dvd drive and put a very small amount of rubbing alcohol on one que tip and gently rub the lens or to be safer, put the alcohol on a very soft cloth (like a glasses cloth or iphone cloth). If the xbox has a samsung drive then you can easily replace it, at the bottom, remove the circuit board by disconnecting the ribon cables, now buy a now drive (same make, same part number and same firmware (ms25 or ms28). then take the new one apart, take the new circuit board out and swap it with the old circuit board. put the new one back together and connect it back to the xbox and reassemble it. Should work great. I heard you can do the circuit board swap with hitachis but idk if its true.

hope this helps.

I meant screws not crews.

when i said "buy a now drive," i meant new drive.

and when i said release i meant releases.
