Well? What's your opinion on this? The whole series is messed up beyond all belief. Portal technology is the basis of the entire plot, so why not a portal that bridges two times? It's only another dimension, after all.

This is what brought this up. In particular, the picture in the middle of the video, where gordon's face lines up exactly with g-man's face.
So I've made this thread so that other hardcore Half-life fans can ponder theories, new ones about H-L2 Ep 3, and old ones, like the origins on the crystal in Half-Life 1. The G-man spans all of this time.
Also, if anybody wouldn't mind confirming that the above overlap in those two pictures is a scam, do so, please! (by finding the original pictures from art online and overlapping them) It would be an amazing find if it's real.
EDIT: (yeah yeah nobody's replied yet but whateveR)

The hairline thing is hard to mistake. (The following taken from another youtube theory) Perhaps they're brothers? G-man speaks funny, and you never hear Gordon speak. Wonder why? Perhaps the are father and son.
Another good theory I found on youtube is that G-man is creating an army to fight _____ (The combine, perhaps). In opposing force, you're put in stasis. Who knows how many people have been put in stasis. And from what I can tell, they're all excellent warriors.
Who is the G-man?

Re: Who is the G-man?
The reason you cannot use portals to travel through time is because it was originally designed to travel from Earth to Xen. The only reason this works is because Xen and Earth are overlapping dimensions, with Xen being the "otherworld" of earth (It is possible that other planets also have an "otherworld". The difference between the combine portals and the black mesa/aperture science ones is that unlike the Combine, they have figured out how to use it for single dimension travel. While this does eliminate much of the need for conventional means of transport, it relies on channeling the user TO Xen, using it as a dimensional slingshot to move them back to our dimension without ever 'fully" landing there. Because of this, you cannot simply create a portal into another time period.Kurt_ wrote:Well? What's your opinion on this? The whole series is messed up beyond all belief. As for the G-Man, while possible that he is Gordon Freeman, I think it rather unlikely. It seems to me that he is somehow in control of Gordon, offering his services to "The highest bidder", a middleman, if you will. In opposing forces, he manipulates Shepard, so he obviously has an agenda, and his power DOES extend beyond just Gordon Freeman.
As for the crystal, it is a crystal from the Xen borderworld. Previously, they had never managed to obtain a "pure" sample. Xenite/Xenium appears to have negative mass, but is also held in place by matter with positive mass. The sample that the g-Mna provided, however, was extremely pure. The beam from the overloaded anti-mass specrometer damaged the structure of the crystal, causing the Resonance Cascade.
Those are my thoughts at the moment, I might have more to add later. Any thoughts?

Excellent

It made sense to me. Mostly because I watch too much Stargate, which is full of that kind of stuff. I used to play half-life, but then I finished the series. Waiting for Ep3...
I never thought of the possibility that G-man was Gordon from the future. It kind of makes sense, but here's a possibility that (argubly) makes more sense. What if G-Man is Gordon's long-lost brother
