Xbox 360 Steering wheel mod on pedals

Hi

I am paralysed in my legs so it is difficult to use the pedals
on the official microsoft Racing wheel for the 360.

Is it possible to do a mod, but taking a normal controller and
let it act as the accelerator / brake, these can then be fitted
to the steering wheel ?

Does the racing wheel have any buttons or triggers on the back? You could take the back triggers from a broken 360 controller and graft them onto the back, using the potentiometers from the pedals. (If it's anything like the old PSX steering wheel, the pedals are just potentiometers.)

You could also make a tabletop joystick/airplane throttle controller, where centered = both off, forward = gas, and back = brake. This might be a little harder, though.
