PS2-Please Help!

Post by ermm777 »

I am not the technical kind or know how to fix things so im looking for a step by step kinda help to check whats wrong or how to fix this problem.

Got a PS2(the slim version)....

It dropped while the game was running :( and now the spindle thing isnt really working. Ive tried turning the thing off so many times already. And lots of times i get this humming noise(happens when i turn it on, open or close it), but the disc doesnt spin, except for one time it did. But not anymore.

I think something might have slipped loose or whatever. the spindle doesnt seem to spin freely anymore(isnt it kinda suppposed to?)....

Any advice or help would be great.thanks.

hate to say it, but you're boned. The best you could hope to do is find a PS2 slim with an entirely different problem and completely swap out the drives. Nothing I have ever tried has fixed a CD/DVD spindle, and if there is one, I am all ears because I have a stack of worthless XBOX 360 drives with locked spindles.

It may be the drive motor not getting power anymore.

The humming sound when it closes may be the laser tracking motor.

I just fixed a slim that when it would try and read the disk it would make a loud sound while spinning. All I did was tighten the screws inside and it worked like new.
