Ever rip someone off?
Hey guys. I'm sorry to say I just ripped this kid off. He knew he was getting ripped off but whatever.
First the deal was: Trade old grey n64 controller for original xbox and like 5 games (Halo, and some sports games). But then he said his xbox is his brothers.
So now he traded me: Trade old grey n64 controller (Has joystick problem), for SLIM Silver PS2 in BOX, with silver controller, memory card and two games (Hot shot golf 2, and ATV 2. ATV 2 doesnt work but I could get it fixed for like $5.)
(For some reason when I play the ps2 slim on my HDTV its picture goes weird for a few seconds with scrolling boxes. But thats only on HDTV).
Have any of you ever ripped off someone before?

in total agreement here with Tibia.
what's the point in ripping someone off? it's just not cool.
i try to be as honest as possible with anything i sell, and as fair as possible.

Well, I've told him in the past that he got ripped off about other things. The kid doesnt care about his stuff.
He's ripped me off before. Gave me a gamecube for my DS. I then traded back, and he gave me back a broken DS. What goes up, comes down, I guess. I actually dont delight in ripping people off. I feel bad, thus why I made this thread.

I disagree. If someone wants to trade with you, even if the trade is lopsided in your favor - there's nothing wrong with that.
If I have a $20 mp3 player, and you have a $500 laptop - but you really want my mp3 player, I'm going to let you trade with me. I will say "Hey, you're really getting the short end of the stick, buddy." - But if you say "Not the way I see it." or "Yeah, but I really want your mp3 player." I'm gonna take the offer.
There's a guy on here - don't trade with him, he's a liar and a theif - 64BitDinosaur, and his name is Eli Stone. He offered me a working Xbox 360 for my broken iBook. I told him repeatedly exactly what was wrong with the iBook. He wanted to trade. I even sent my laptop to him first, with a tracking number, and let him have it before he sent me anything. Well, he never sent me anything. He won't even send me back my laptop. He said I tried to rip him off - which is insane because I sent my stuff first. How could I rip you off if you not only *know* what you are getting before hand, but you actually possess it, it's in your hands. Anyway... My point is, I thought it was a lopsided deal - but, at first at least, he said he wanted to do it. So I did it.
I was straight up honest with him, and totally upfront about all the problems it had etc. - but he wanted to do it. So I did it. And, not with him, of course, but I would do it again. If someone wanted something I had that was less valuable than what they are offering me - I'll take it in a heartbeat.
In fact, there's really no other reason to make a trade. If you don't think of what you are getting as more valuable than what you are losing - then it is a dumb idea to trade in the first place. You are always trying to get what you want more than what you have.
Like I said, lying is bad. Being dishonest is bad. Tricking people is bad. But if someone knowingly, willingly wants to trade with you - it's their choice to make the deal or not. And if that deal is a windfall for you - enjoy it.
I think the term "Ripping someone off" is highly misused here. That implies wrongdoing. Getting a great deal is different than ripping someone off.

I destroyed a dead SNES once to see what is inside - with a hammer - does that count as console hacking?

Well, let me give my thoughts on this.
I'm going to take this from my experiences in trading... From Runescape.
If you are taking part in a trade, it's the responsibility of both traders to asses the "fairness" of the trade. Once both parties agree, then it is deemed as a "fair" trade, and no one has been ripped off or "scammed."
(Edited for clarity and grammar.)

so let me get this straight. this kid just came up to you, and wanted to make this deal:
Trade old grey n64 controller for original xbox and like 5 games (Halo, and some sports games).
he didn't try to make a more realistic deal at all first? he just simply flat out said he'd give you all that for your controller?
