It can also mean something like "a person skilled in a certain field", like how Wii can mean "us" or "urinate"

Yeah, but that "Wiz" would be spelled with an H, as in whiz. It's a shame that this thing has to be so limited. The dual d-pads and lack of any new features make this a GP2x F200 with a faster processor and a bit more RAM.

What do the dual d-pads do? From the looks of it, instead of having face buttons (you know, your standard A B X Y stuff,) the guys over at GamePark Holdings thought it would be a good idea to replace them with another d-pad.

To tell you the truth, this could very well be the very first game console in history to have no face buttons! Innovative or retarded?

To me, this seems INCREDIBLY dumb. First they give us a pseudo analog stick. Then they make a new one with ONLY buttons. (The F200 dpad is 4 separate buttons). So obviously, they must have figured that if people were complaining about buttons and wanting a real dpad... Hey, 2 dpads would make them REALLY happy!

And the name... At least "Wii" is spelled a bit different, but "Wiz"? This is so bad that I almost think it is a joke. Not to mention "The wizard" references we are going to get.

Good thing the Pandora is coming out!

You guys are missing a very important improvement.

Maybe this one will be worth a second look.

Putting back four face buttons in place of the second D-pad is a trivial modification. It's worth having to do that to have 3D acceleration, a faster processor, more ram, and probably a brighter screen (that usually happens with upgrades)

3D acceleration or not, with crippled controls, I don't see the point. I compare it to later PDAs; some of them will do PSX emulation without a hitch, but that doesn't make them a good platform to play games on.

Should Pandora be delayed beyond November, I'll certainly grab one up and modify that second d-pad with some proper face buttons. Until then, though, I'll hold off on picking one up.

3D acceleration is worthless without an analog stick (or two).

Actually, this system might be potentially good. It is more than double the processor speed of the GP2x and 3d accelerator - so perhaps games like N64 might be playable?

The second d-pad will replace the A, B, X and Y buttons I presume; interesting to see how it plays.

Going to wait and see whether they system is "wiz" (pee) or "wizard". That will depend on how good the emulators fare; ie no frameskip, etc.

How would they be playable without an analog stick?

You've got 2 dpads, one is up down left right - the other is a b x y. There are two shoulder buttons and menu and select button. There are simply not enough buttons to do N64 or PS1. Again, the main thing missing is the analog stick. The N64 had 1 analog stick, 2 shoulder buttons, 1 d-pad, 6 face buttons, a 'start' button, and 1 trigger (Z). Basically, you've got the D-pad, the C-buttons, and the shoulder buttons - but no a, no b, no z, and no stick.
