i know. wierd question. just bare with me and tell me if its possible haha.

sure... all you'd have to do is open it up and wire the player 2 port to the player 1 port...Portable Newbie wrote:would it be possible to solder 2 gamecube controller ports to the same port? so basically have it so there can be 2 controllers controlling 1 player?

don't see why'd you want this tho... only 1 controller could be used at a time. or someone could be extremely cruel and screw up player 1...

lol. slow down a second. No it wont work, the controllers use a serial communication protocol. You will either have two masters driving the clock or two slaves colliding all over the place. Not sure which but its highly unlikely it would work.
UNLESS.... all the controller ports are on the same bus anyways and it uses some kind of addressing for the controllers... but i dunno... In that case you'd still get players 1 and 2 anyways.

well my main goal is to have the player one controller built in, but with my design, i wanted to be able to ALSO have a plug to input another controller so player 1 and 2 are using controllers looking at the screen (because otherwise player 1 will be holding the unit and blocking visual)Electric Rain wrote:The only (safe) way you could do it is if you also wired a SPDT switch to the console ground and controller grounds (or any other of the controller wires, but switching ground is kind of tradition).
maybe then you want to set up a switch so only one of them is controlling player 1 at a time.Portable Newbie wrote:well my main goal is to have the player one controller built in, but with my design, i wanted to be able to ALSO have a plug to input another controller so player 1 and 2 are using controllers looking at the screen (because otherwise player 1 will be holding the unit and blocking visual)Electric Rain wrote:The only (safe) way you could do it is if you also wired a SPDT switch to the console ground and controller grounds (or any other of the controller wires, but switching ground is kind of tradition).
