The Dark Knight

Post by vskid »

I just got back from the midnight showing here (its 3AM). What do you guys think of it?

I thought it was a good movie. Its kinda twisted, but not to the point that it should bother most people. Its kinda long, but it was well worth it.

And now I'm going to eat something and go to bed.

I haven't seen it, but I want to rant a bit. OK, the whole Heath Ledger thing is a tragedy, no doubt. But I SWEAR that all the previews highlight the Joker so you can see Ledger and have it evoke an emotion. It's disgusting. For those who haven't seen it... who's playing batman? Do you know? Did anybody make a big deal about it? Could you tell from the previews? What about the whole "OMG, they should have kept Michael Keaton/Val Kilmer/George Clooney!" debate? No, it's all around the Joker. Isn't there another villian? Who is he/she? Hmm....

They are totally exploiting Ledger's death and I think I'll skip this installment of Batman (for now) because of it.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming....

IIRC, and having not seen it, Two-Face / Harvey Dent is the other villain. But if you ask me, The Joker is more than enough villain for one movie. Why? Well, he's the total opposite of Batman. You expect to Batman to always do the right thing, and never to intentionally cause harm to innocents, for one; The Joker on the other hand, might do a good thing for one person, but is completely unpredictable as a whole. So, like in the original movie, he ended up throwing millions in cash out to people, for reasons he only kept to himself; he then poisoned the people who went to collect it.

Honestly, I love the Joker. He's a dynamic individual you can never really pin down to just one thing. Incredibly intelligent and artistic, he's also maniacal, homicidal, and a touch psychopathic and schizophrenic. Challenging Batman to kill him at points, and then taking potshots at him the next, or by killing people in a fit of rage (or s in the original movie, as a continuation of a personal and grotesque art portfolio), you never know what he'll do and how he'll react.

I saw a trailer for it before he died, and I'm pretty sure it showed the Joker more than Batman. The Joker is pretty much the main forces of evil in the movie, while the force of good has several people to split the spotlight with.
Its not worth it to not see the movie because of that, and you could have been thinking more about it because of his death.

Christian Bale is the Batman just like he was the batman last time. Why are they gonna make a big deal over him when he's not new? He was Batman in the previous movie so he's old news.

The Joker, however, was not in the previous movie. Him being the villain in this movie sets the movie apart from Batman Begins. The Joker is one of the greatest villains in the world of superheros, is it really such a big deal to focus on him?

I think that might have been the best movie I ever saw.

When it ended I was sad it had to end, such a good movie.

Just booked my tickets for the 8:15 showing, all the shows before it were sold out. :P The more I hear about it the more I wanna see it. I'm going to go watch the first one to brush up now!

Oh, and to those who saw it, do you think Maggie Gyllenhaal makes a better Dawes than Katie Holmes did? I was fairly impartial to the character in the first one, but I HATE Gyllenhaal; not just as an actress, but her politics and the like sicken me. Stupid socialist.

At least she's hot.

I went to the midnight showing last night and it was AWESOME.

The best BatMan to date and Heath Ledger played the Joker perfectly.

It's the must watch movie of the year.

Just got back. I'm so glad they changed the actress for Rachel Dawes. Much much better.

I kept laughing at what the Joker would do, and then felt bad about it immediately after because it was so wrong... but awesome.
