NesP Progression Thread (1st Portabilization)

Post by Zereo_XI »

I chose NES to be my first portable. Now that I have a some stuff to start off, I will be posting Pictures as I progress.

P.S: I might now post anything since my Exams are coming but I will try to update on weekends.

/**********************************/
Today, I dismantle the NES and Disconnected every part and separated it in Bags (Just to find stuff easily).

I also had to Smack that RF Module off, there was so much crap on the Joints that the Solder didn't want to heat-up.

Next think I'm going to do Is relocate the Cartridge.

As soon as I get my Paypal account fund I will get myself a Zenith PS2, Xbox, Gamecube Screen. For the case I might ask my Step-dad to make a Wooden Case like the one by LongHorn: http://www.longhornengineer.com/Project ... pdate32608

My Step-Dad use to go to school and had Wood Carving lessons and has lots of talent in making wooden object; Birds, Pictured Frame and other stuff.

Here is something he made:

schmellyfart- Ya, best book I ever bought.

Dr. KillGood- I live in Canada so Shiping would cost a lot if you live else where you might want to find someone closer, except if you do live in Canada. Its in your best interest not to pay to much for a Case. Sry.

I'm gonna go and continue my cartridge slot and do a Mock-Up for the Case. I will post up later.

Double--Post

Here is my Mock-Up:

OK here I have a couple of questions:

1. I salvaged a piece that looks exactly like a 2N4401 Transistor, so I want to know what is written on one of them?

2.Is there any cheap place to get PerfBoard or any other way to Solder things together?

1. Sorry dunno.

2. Radio Shak's usually got small pieces of perf board. You can cut it down to whatever size you need fairly easily.

Ya I know I went today but its like 6$(CAN) for just a like 15x15 board. Is that normal prices? If it is I might as well just solder them together and put electrical tape to secure afterwards.

Suggestion; Leave the cart connector as it is; that'll let you have carts go down the back.

You dont need air holes for a nes portable, the ting barely generates any heat. If you do cut the nintendo logo into the back, I think it would look cool if you hooked up a few leds behind the logo.

Thanks for the Idea, I will surely do. But I have to get a hold of Wires from a old comp and Desoldering Braid first.

Would those Wires do the job to rewire the cartridge slot?
