if its already totally screwed if you do nothing, how could you make it worse?
yeah you can solder to traces and pins (duh of course!) but be careful, cause one good yank on one of those wires can rip the whole trace right off the board.
If you do solder to tracers or pins, and the joins are a bit precarious, you could hot-glue to the soldered joint to keep it in place. I had to do this with the GBA Transverter when I soldered to the microchip.
