PS1p Progress!

Post by Rellizate »

Hey. I have some pictures of my ps1p so far.

What is left to do.

Bondo around buttons.
Wire direction button tacts.
Wire all tacts to controller board.
Wire audio and video to screen.
Desolder crap from PSone Mobo.
Wire up second player slot.
PAINT & SAND!
Glue it all in place in the case.
And play!

Looks good so far.
92% of teens have moved on to rap.
If you are part of the 8% who still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your signature.

A bit bulky isn't it? Couldn't you use the original psone case? Or are you using a PS1 for this mod?

Here's just a concept.. It's not to scale, but it should give you an idea of what I mean.

I guess I could, but that would be hard. And cramped. For my first portable I want to make it not cramped. Just to get the hang of it.

I used a Plastic ABS Box from maplins.

It wont be hard at all... You just need some P39 and P40 body fillers, sanding blocks, a compartment battery holder, and fill it all in.. Cut a controller and the case, and mount it all.. The battery will stick out the back, the screen will stick out the front, the only thing you really have to make internal is the controller, which isn't hard to do.

I'd really recommend it for a style point of view, rather than a practical point of view. If you need any help or anything, let me know.

Not much more. Still need to get some bondo.
Cut out player 2 hole in the back of the case. Desoldered the power & AV jack off the back of the psone mobo. All was fine until I accedently bridged a what I think was a resister on the psone screen. Now there is no video. May need another screen (will be my third). Bastard thing... Going to maplins tommorow for the power LED. Going to another shop for P40 & P39 (a type of english bondo).

Don't forget the sandwiches...
Anyway back on subject.

Desoldered power switch and cd lid switch. Jumped them. I overheated my controller board and took one of those rings off accedently. Will have to get another place of the board for that point. Damn. Rewired right analog stick onto pcbboard.

That's it for now.
