My first arcade stick... Metal slug style.

Post by ShaolinDrunkard »

Wow, been quite a while since I've been on this forum, anyway, I've built my first arcade stick and I figured I'd throw it up here since I leared most of what I know about soldering and hacking controllers here on this very forum. Its a metal slug arcade stick. Its certainly not perfect, but for my first try, I think its pretty cool. Anyway this is a Usb arcade stick specifically designed for emulated neo geo arcade games but useful for a ton of other arcade games including almost anything on mame. I thought constucting this this would be the most rewarding thing, but really its playing the games that has surprised me, playing arcade games with a real joystick is just so much fun, you'll play games you've probably never seen before and just not want to stop. Its been a really fun experience and I definetly want to make more for different platforms.

Here are some pics.

Wow, nicely done! Looks beautiful, especially to me; I have a soft spot in my heart to anything Neo Geo.

Oh, and seeing as you haven't been here in a while, for future reference, we now have an Arcade specific forum located at the bottom of the console section, right below the current-gen systems.

Hope to see more arcade mods from you in the future!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yeah, I saw the new arcade section, but I wasnt sure if that which was right for posting this in, so I went with here. But thanks for mentioning that, I'll post there from now on. Thats a screenshot from Metal slug X Retromaster. I decided to do that because I'm really no great artist and a lot of people who make arcade sticks rip off other peoples artwork, I didnt want to do that.
