Nintendo Tri Wing Screws Removed EASY!

Post by Lego614 »

Step one - Find a nail with a shank the size of the head of the screw.

Step two - Take the nail and use a grinder (I used a bench grinder) to cut 3 distinct sides into the nail.

Step three - Unscrew the screw!

I used this method to take apart a GBA!

Or go to a site like lik-sang and buy a set of drivers listed under the repair section.

I tried the pen thing and it didnt work.... At All.
I ended using a screw driver bit that has a shape simalar to a pitch fork (or a carving fork), it works well only deal was the bit was never centered.

i found out that if you use a 3 sided chisel it removes them quite easily.

Don't know why no one has mentioned this before but my method is simple. Go down to your local retail store or convenience store and buy an "eyeglass repair kit". This usually costs between $1-$2. The precision screwdriver in there is perfectly sized to grasp 2 of the 3sides in the tri-wing. I was able to open my GBA cart in less than 20 seconds with no hassle at all.

I got mine from rite aid.

I used a normal Philips head and filed off two of the wings. Then it fit perfectly.
