Best Snes RPGs.

Post by XPCportables »

I am loading my PSP up with Roms for my Christmas car rides and I wanted to know what you guys thought were the best Snes RPGs besides Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana. BTW has anybody besides me had trouble with freeze ups in chrono trigger with SNES9x TYL for PSP?

I hear Illusion of Gaia is a very good game, quite underrated.

About $15 shipped on eBay for a complete one, but I guess that doesn't matter

FF2 and FF3 (goes without saying).

Someone else mentioned Illusion of Gaia, great game. Also check out Soulblazer.

Let's see...

FFIV, V, and VI
Bahamut Lagoon
Live a Live
Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2)
Terranigma
Illusions of Gaia
Actraiser
Soul Blazer
E.V.O.
Star Ocean
Harvest Moon
Super Mario RPG
Earthbound
Tales of Phantasia

And of course, Chrono Trigger (as you rightly mentioned before. )

I think that's about it. To find out more about each of these games, check out www.fantasyanime.com and good luck!

A Link to the Past (not really a true RPG, but it kicks ass)
Actraiser (liked this one almost as much as the aforementioned Zelda)
Final Fantasy II
Super Mario RPG

These are the only ones I remember getting into back in the day, but a lot of hours were lost to each of them. :D

Woohoo! I'm not the only one! Go, jones!

Did you ever play Actraiser 2? If so, what were your opinions on it?

Act Raiser was more of an RTS/Action-Adventure side-scroller than an RPG...

Act Raiser 2 just sucked. All it was was eye-candy.

For a strategy RPG, check out Ogre Battle. While I think that Ogre Battle 64 is one of the best games that I have ever played, the original Ogre Battle can be just as engaging, and quite long as well.

Super Mario RPG is run if you play it sped up (emulator,) so you can skip all of the crappy attack animations!

I'd say Phantasy Star, Link to the Past (like Jones said, not a true RPG) and as mentioned, Super Mario RPG.
