I have a Pioneer sx-990. It is my dads old amplifier that he got in like 1969 or so. I plugged it in and it works great (there is a little noise in the pots but hell the thing is older than most of the members of this forum) except that the right channel doesnt work. If you turn up the volume really high you can hear the right channel but it is really quiet, and distorted. I have checked all of the fuses with a multimeter and they are working. I was wondering if anyone knew what could be wrong. If anyone wants to know what it looks like I am providing a link.

I had a similar problem with my amp from around that era...which I accidentally set fire to by wiring wrong...& I had to bypass a diode & use a power strip for a power switch as the original was broken & I didn't have any spare switches & I had to hold the wires in place with electric tape...
Turns out it was the RCA connector for the speaker. All I had to do was turn the wire a little. I doubt your problem is as simple...

We had a very similar problem with our old amplifier. The right channel was practically not there, but like you said, you could hear it when you crank the volume. I found out by mistake that pushing down on the volume control made the right channel as loud as the left. I know it makes no sense, but it worked for us.

Sounds like the pot to me the same thing happened to my micro CRT tv's mono volume control.
