2600 in a car...(power question)

Post by Logicdustbin »

So, I'm making a 4 switch portable to run in a car, in one of the tutorials (about batteries) it states:
However, don't hook a car battery up to it, that would literally be overkill.
now, in my case, I would like to hook it up to a car battery. Will it be a big problem hooking the 12v to the 7805, or should I add another transistor before it; say, bring it down from 12 to 9(ish) then into the 7805?

thanks for the help :)

You really have to worry about voltage, since that's the only part that's forced. The only difference between a car battery and other 12-volt battery is that the car battery has a better AH rate. Since amperage is drawn, you should be fine

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.
