I have searched around the fourms, and its either I cant find it, or whatever, figure someone else can help me
the problem is that I would love for the whole ps1 lcd to run off of 5v, backlight isnt important as I would do the led mod... but if this could be done, it would be possible to squeeze a few extra mins of playtime as the voltage drops since a reg for 5v will have a lower threshold as opposed to a 7v one..
any pictures or links to them would be appreciated, thanks in advance

The main encoder on the PSone screen requires 7-8V to work, so you would still need something at that voltage. You could probably replace the linear regulators on the board with switching regulators, but you would have to be careful with the frequencies and it probably wouldn't save a whole lot of power anyways.

That is like asking for a hummer with good gas mileage.(without, of course, making it smaller, darn H2-3!) It is one good trait or the other, man. Sorry.

so no one has found a way around the input to the ps1 lcd, i mean, i would assume that the decoder would run on 5v... if the audio amp wont work its not that big of a deal...
its not like a hummer getting good gas milage at all if you think about it, asking a fonking huge lcd like the intec gc one to not consume 700ma of power...
All I want is a good sized good quality lcd, that runs on as low of voltage as possible.
