Ok made some progress.
Got my bondo today. I practised using it on the psone's case. I drilled a 22mm hole and filled it back in again!

Thanks to Hatrix for helping me with the stuff.

Expect some more of the case soon, as I will be bondoing (is that a word, if not it should be) it soon!

UPDATE!

Ok, I finshed bondoing the controlls. I might add a bit more around the start, select & analog buttons. I have sanded a bit, but I will do a bit more.

What's left to do on the case:
Drill volume and brightness holes.
Drill hole on back for CD reader cables to go through.
Drill analog stick holes.
Paint!

Expect some more updates soon.

Because tins are bastards to open and close.. If you ruin the tin you'll ruin the rest of your stuff.

Otherwise, it's pretty good stuff if you know how to use it. Messy though...

i was gonna say because that junk is weak brittle and doesn't adhere very well at all compared to the spot putty

i used it for my first few portables and the spot putty is like Moses compared to the two part stuff

We're from the UK.. If you can find us a store with spot putty here, be my guest..

That's why I told him to use P40 with P38, P40 is fibreglass.
I used it in my Gamecube construction, and it's as solid as crap.
I didn't use P38 on it because I didn't have it, but it's easy sand, and gives the P40 a nice finish.

fiber glass eh, disregard the weak portion i said  . i've never heard of this p40 or p38 if its what was used on the GCp you made its gotta be pretty solid. probably different from the stuff me and triton used to use and learned to hate so much :P

P38 is like bondo. It's pretty tough by itself, and gives a nice sandable finish.

P40 is a fibreglass mixture and is rock solid when dry.. I had a hell of a time breaking it off my cube when I got it somewhere I didn't want it, I ended up having to dremel it off, because it wasn't coming off, no matter how much I tried.

They're both used for repair work on cars, so you know they'd have to be up to top performance in terms of strength.

Ok update. I am a bit pissed off though.

I spent 3 hours wiring the controlls on my ps1, and when I finally finished, it doesn't work!

It seems to think either the start or the X button is permanatly pressed. Anyone know what the problem could be?

I also added more bondo, and cut the foam I am using to hold my screen in place, and marked out volume and brightness buttons on the case ready to be drilled.

I had the same problem with my Gamecube...

Can you show us a picture of your wiring? You might have grounded all of your controls by accident, or at least a few of them..

Here you go, don't think that is the problem though, as I stripped the ribbon cable already attached to the controller board.
