Take Apart N64 caterage.

Post by GameReaper »

Now...
Correct me if im wrong, do the n64 carterages contain a batteries or not? it is my understanding that there is a backup battery so it can save games (without a memory card) such as zelda, banjo kazooie, mario 64...
anyway...
My legend of Zelda ocorina of time (thats not spelled right is it) that i got used for 4 dollars at some po dunk storage place/ baseball/ hockey/magic/ pokemon card place along with a few random video games... does not save, i have reasons to believe that backup battery died, also there was about 3 pounds of dirt and electronic scum on the inside of this poor thing...

so my point is...

how the heck do i get these blasted screws out... ive identified them as security screws, and have tried using a pocket knife, a scewdriver with a notch in it... and i have no idea where to find security bits/scewdrivers...

any suggestions for a do it yourself'er?
I was sent here by ben himself... lol.

also i apologise if this is a post already, but i did not see it on the front page.
thank you for your help!

the smaller ones are for games the bigger ones are for systems

if you buy one it will make your life much easier plus you can chanche all the batteries in your games if you want very quickly

Actually mine is where you heat up the screw with a soldering iron and just pull it out with plyers :) It's a great method since it leaves everything intact and working. I didn't have any luck with the pen method.

Well, i tried the pen thing, i guess there must be a specific pen, after melting 3 bic pens down and making the whole mold of the scew head... it didnt turn out so well, i couldnt even get it to turn...
as for the buying a bit thing, im not allowed to buy stuff off the internet... sounds pitiful for a 17 year old but... well i dont have a credit card, and my parents deem something of this sort un necissary...

so if there are any other suggestion's... ive been thinking but i dont seem to have much luck with correct guesses.

The cartridges use the smaller (3.8mm IIRC) bit, I only sell the system ones (don't think I have any left even)
