PSOne Brightness & Volume buttons

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PSOne Brightness & Volume buttons

Post by damphool »

How odd is it that the brightness +/- buttons are a different height than the volume +/- buttons on the PSone screen? (anyone else notice this?) I still can't figure out why. Regardless, the taller ones are fine, but, the shorter ones just don't cut it. I have messed with them for a few hours (gluing various natures of spacers to the shorties) & I give up. In the book Ben talks about using 1/4" "nylon plugs" (holding them in place by gluing them to plastic backing). Any thoughts on this? Any other ideas?

The trouble is that when I ask for 1/4" nylon plugs, the staff at the hardware stores (at least the ones I have been to so far) look at me like I just asked for an albino smurf. Was just curious if anyone had found an alternative piece that was readily available. Guess I'll stay on the prowl.

if you need an alternative but can't find one in a store, get a wooden dowl(or however it's spelled) and cut it to the right length
