You mean the super joy's? Yea, I have a power joy, strangely enough the GBA SP player should work just as good as the Power Joy, because like the Power Joy, it runs off of 4 batteries, I didn't take apart the GBA SP player to see if its a NES On a Chip but I'm almost positive it is. Its just weird that it plays not the full frams per second (the gradius shots are not smooth, they're choppy, as well as the pinball in pinball). Either way, its better just to strap a screen to a power joy and rig it up to work off of batteries. This disappointment I bought is getting me more itchy for my dremel to arrive here so I can finish building my NESp.

They do, there's an online version, which I think is better IMO, and a downloaded version. I have tried the download version, and it didn't work for me, now just to try the online, and I have a demo ready to try.

E-Reader Online Dot Code Maker service. Be sure to use demos smaller than 27 kB zipped! Read the instructions before doing anything. It may be down now, so you might have to wait.

you can now run NES roms on your GBA from a Compact Flash card if you buy one of these GBA movie players for $25 U.S. http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?catego ... ts_id=3983&
I have one and it kicks butt.

I've had the GBA movie player for almost a year now. But only recently is the player capable of playing NES roms, why because the firmware is upgradeable. And the latest firmware which came out two weeks ago, now supports NES roms. This thing is ever evolving because of the upgradeable firmware.

I'm gonna have to get me one of these, I seen one off base, and I was debating buying it but i didn't because it didn't play NES games... but I guess that changed.

Do you notice any slowdowns at all? Because I got the Famicom player for GBA SP and it only runs at like 15-20 FPS... I just don't want to have any lag for NES games.

I have never seen any slow downs ever.
The GBA movie player is using an emulator called "Pocket NES" (which is the same emulator that is used for running NES roms on GBA flash carts.)

I own one of those adaptors, and you should know that they have their limitations. The NES emulation was never even planned when the product was first sold, but about a month ago they released a firmware upgrade that took advtanage of PocketNES to allow for NES emulation.

Because it all has to be loaded into the RAM of the GBA, you're limited by a maximum ROM size of 192kb. That cuts out a lot of great games, but most (possibly all) of the games now being re-released as part of the "NES Classics" series are small enough.

The other problem it has is that saving is impossible. The guys who make the device have been hinting that it could possible be introduced at a later stage, but for now you're stuck without save support.

Aside from that, it's pretty good. You actually have to put the PocketNES ROM onto your CompactFlash card to play the games, so you can update it whenever the author releases a new version. You can also transfer games over the link cable to other GBAs, or even remove the adaptor once the game is loaded.

It's a handy little feature, especially as it was completely unexpected, but it is no substitute for a real NES. A cheap flash cart (64Mb) should satisfy your needs, however.
