Go for it by all means. There are plenty of people who want something like this, and I'm not gonna make that many. Besides, competion is fun
I have yet another question to ask. I was going to paint the entire case blue, but it looked kind of drab, and the color of blue was the same as the 'B' button (oops). So, what I was thinking was painting the bottom case RED and the screen case BLUE. That way it would kind of have an inverted Mario-ish look to it. It would also take care of the B button problem. So how about it?

Back! In case anybody noticed, I have been gone for quite a while. I was temporarily banned from the PC by my parents...
So while I was suspended from PC activity, I got some work done on the N64. Oh yeah, I got the screen from Jeff. Took a while thanks to stupid mail service.
I tried my 8AA's with no regulators idea. The N64+screen ran for 30 minutes before resetting. I had to put a couple caps on the lines to get even that. So I guess that plan is out.
Then I tried using an old 3V ( it is actually 3.14V)car converter I had. It worked fine, but it had a problem. There was a weird noise coming from it. Sort of a squeal. It wasn't overheating or anything though, so I guess it could work if I could find a way to get rid of the noise. Ideas?
The only other idea I have is getting some 3.3V regs from digi-key, but I have had some bad experience with them over heating. Maybe Gamelver's idea of two 7805's and a resistor would work. I may try that.

hmmm.....I wonder if we could reengineer those 3V regulators from radioshack to output 3.3V....as I've said before, 3V isn't really enough for the 3.3V line....perhaps I'll draw up the circuit diagram of the 3V regulator
oh, and I know how ya feel about being banned from your PC...kind of...my dad set our router to only allow me access to the internet from 5:00 to 6:30
.....if only I could get the password for the router settings...*sigh*...

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Well, I did get it and the screen does work, but the hinge is really loose. Probably from the lack of any padding in the box it got knocked around a bit. The screen is a bit off center too, pretty sure I can fix that though. And the hinge thing is okay too, since I have extra parts from my past portables. And it did take almost a month to get it...Jeff wrote:Sweet! Everything show up okay?G-force wrote:Oh yeah, I got the screen from Jeff.
Also, now that its arrived, so I get added to the good trader list?
Gamelver, RS sells 3V regulators? I've been in and all I could find was adjustable, and 7805's.

Ah... That's actually the 3V car adapter I mentioned above. If you have one I want to ask a question, does it make a noise when you turn on the N64? And I have used it for quite powering my N64 and I noticed no problems with the game graphics, sound, etc. Only that darn sound is keeping me from using it!

Just bump the hard-reset button on the router and make your own settingsGamelver wrote:oh, and I know how ya feel about being banned from your PC...kind of...my dad set our router to only allow me access to the internet from 5:00 to 6:30.....if only I could get the password for the router settings...*sigh*...
