3.3v idea!

Post by imapaintballa »

well i was thinking furiously and came up with an idea. you get 6 rechargable aa's (walmart has 1850 mAH for $5 for package of 4). put every two of them in their own 2 battery-packs. then you wire the 3 battery packs in parallel to get around 5a-6a power capacity. would this be okay for the 3.3v, since the output voltage of the battery packs is 3.6v? i have the nus-001 case, but is that the one with the power thing on the 3.3v wher i can have anything up to 5v?

you would need 3 in series and then put 2 of those in parrallel. all the gray cases i've seen say NUS-001 but the mobos say something different. you'll have to see what it says behind the cart slot

3.6v should be fine...its a very small amount over....i dont even have the nus-001 and i accidently put like 6v in it by accident and it was ok....but i might of just been lucky.....
I'm a noob....and lazy....i like to do things the simple way.

I put 4V into it for over half an hour and it still works fine.

As soon as I get a few hours, I'll wire up my DC-DC convertor and blow you all away!

Well, maybe not, but I like my idea because it doesn't leave you stuck with 2 banks of batteries.

Yeah its a regulator. I didn't realize you meant a DC to DC converter. usbcd36 found one, and he is supposed to be finishing the the testing soon. If I remember it cost about $30.

If you have a Circuit City near you, you can grab the Sony dcc-e345 car power converter. It outputs about 3.3 volts, amazingly.

It's rated for 1amp and Sony's specs say it outputs 3.0v, not 3.3v. If you measured 3.3v on it then its probably because you didn't have a load on it. As it doesn't appear to be a regulated output, it's only going to put out the specified voltage if the load is close to the rating (1 amp). It's also $20...

okay so no thanks i guess. im now down to using 3 rechargable 2100mA aa's as a power source.

It dosn work very well. With a 220 uf capacitor on the line it only lasts 30 minutes before resetting.
