I don't care about HD and I'm not a child, why you ask? Because I am one of the 80% who don't own a freakin HD TV! It's a cost thing for Nintendo to cut HD. If only 20% of your audience, even less because Nintendo isn't tech savvy is going to use a feature, then why support it? It's why they took the component output out of the Gamecube, nobody freaking used it.benheckc wrote: My personal opinion is Nintendo is relegating the Revolution to "for kids" status only, the major indicator of which is the lack of HD support (which kids don't care about but adults do) Yes they've got the money to do this, but I think it's really the pride that's driving them to. There's really no logic.
People do own gamecubes, but not in the same mass number that the PS2. It kinda helped Sony to beat them out of the gate, just as it does anything. N64 could never have caught up with PSOne, neither could Gamecube catch up to PS2.MARIO on the PS2 would outsell MARIO on the Gamecube by a large margin. Why? Because people actually OWN PS2s!
Also, I don't believe Nintendo is pushing the Revolution to a childrens audience this time around. The console looks so much cooler than the other systems, rather than the Xbox 360 and it's ugliness, and the PS3's fat grilling capabilities, the Revolution actually looks cool. Also, Nintendo didn't mention a Mario game for the Revolution, although you know there will be one, they didn't mention a crap Mario spin off, but good games. They've announced the most adult games they've got, rather then Mario or Yoshi games.
Super Smash Bros.
Metroid Prime 3
Legend of Zelda
Those have been the only games I've heard announced for the revolution, which doesn't sound like a childish list really.
Nintendo can't compete with Sony or Microsoft. Nintendo doesn't have the amount of money to go toe to toe with Sony, and no company has more money to push than Microsoft. Nintendo rather, is doing what they do best. They're trying something different. The Revolutionary part of the revolution is the input, not the classic games. Those are a nice extra to appeal to us. If the revolution controller is capable then I guarantee someone on this board will start a portable instantly because of it's small size.
